Duracell Battery Backup
Our cabins are equipped with a Duracell PowerSource back-up battery. In the event of a power outage, this battery will provide uninterrupted power to the internet router and whatever else is plugged into it - generally a couple of lamps. You can also charge your laptops and phones with it.
Please be aware though of the limitations of this unit. It is not designed to power things like heaters, hair dryers, television, etc. For example, if you are powering the router and a lamp with LED light bulb, you can expect to get about 20-30 hours of run time. A television would operate for about 8 hours. A microwave would only be powered for about 15 minutes. Be selective with what you use the battery for!
Most of our power outages are not more than 4 hours. This unit is provided primarily to ensure guests who are working or studying from the cabin have uninterrupted internet service and supplemental light. We suggest guests cook on the outdoor grill, and use the provided lanterns and fireplaces to meet their heating and cooking needs in the event of an extended power outage. A great way to enjoy your off-grid experience would be to enjoy a board game, tell stories, experiment with camp cooking, etc. Make it an adventure!
There are times when the internet goes down independently of a power outage, or at the same time as a power outage, due to damage of a fiber optic line or other equipment failure. We do not have any control over this and make no guarantees of internet coverage. We are just making every attempt to ensure your continued connection to the WWW.
